Males 1st Class Entrance

  The First Class Males entrance hall is by far the most ornate of the three entrances to Victoria Baths. There is lavish green tiling in dark green and cream and a splendid tiled staircase.The floor is mosaic with a design of fishes.

  The tiles were made by the Pilkington Tile Company, estd 1891, and designed by F C Howell. The design is included in a 1902 Pilkington catalogue for Wolverhampton Exhibition. The main green tile is marked on the back with a P (standing for Pilkington) and the words BURTON PATENT RD No 380753. William Burton was the company manager at Pilkingtons from 1892.
