Volunteering

We depend upon our fantastic team of volunteers and there are lots of different ways to get involved. Thanks to their enthusiasm and generosity, we are able to keep this iconic building open to the public. In 2019, we won the prestigious Queens Award for Volunteering in recognition for all the amazing work our volunteers have done over the years.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone who is over 18 can volunteer at Victoria Baths, no matter what your skills, experience or background. For most roles all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

We have a range of flexible opportunities available, and you can choose to make a regular commitment or simply help out occasionally.

What will I get out of volunteering?

Whether you want to develop new skills and gain useful experiences, or have fun and meet new people, there are lots of good reasons to volunteer with us. After completing 20 hours of volunteering, our volunteers also enjoy a range of extra benefits:

  • free membership of the Friends of Victoria Baths, who receive newsletters and e-news about events and restoration
  • free entry to our public events, including guided tours, throughout the season

Whichever opportunity interests you, you’ll receive plenty of support from our Engagement team, to help get the most out of your volunteering experience.

What opportunities are available?

There are many ways to get involved, whether you want to engage with visitors face-to-face or prefer a more behind the scenes role. Volunteer roles fall into four categories; Public, Support, Specialist and Trustee.

Public Volunteer

Our team of Public Volunteers are the face of Victoria Baths during our public openings. If you are enthusiastic, friendly and willing to learn, then this could be the volunteering opportunity for you.

Support Volunteer

Would you like to gain experience helping out behind the scenes at a small heritage charity? There are so many areas to get involved with, from working in the office to joining the History Group.

Specialist Volunteer

Specialist Volunteers include our stained glass, maintenance, marketing and PR volunteers. If you have specific skills you would like to offer voluntarily, please get in touch via email.

Trustee

Trustees sit on our board, with a broad range of skills such as architecture, accountancy, business and communications. If you’re interested in becoming a Trustee please get in touch via email.
