"I wanted to make something that would leave as small a footprint as possible, yet was in scale with the space"
Ally Wallace: Artist in Residence
Ally Wallace was selected to respond to the first phase of Restoration in the building. He worked on site to produce a deceptively simple structure, using newsprint, that created an elegant and precise temporary intervention.
The architectural effect was of a paper thin, but imposing block curtain that intersected the Gala Pool. Titled "Stuck Cities" the newspaper panels taken from broadsheets selected for their tonal qualities began to yellow in the light, fading - just as the architecture around it was renewed
This Arts Council funded commission, curated by Alison Kershaw was previewed as Restoration phase1 reached its conclusion celebrations.
