12 Sep 2013 20:00 -22:00
Adults: £15/ £12 concessions
In the wonderful setting our our Gala pool, with its beautiful and unique acoustics, cellist Matthew Barley pays homage to Benjamin Britten’s creativity and innovation.
The programme for the concert is built around Britten's Third Suite for solo cello and includes a suite by J S Bach, a work by Gavin Bryars and new commissions from James MacMillan, Dai Fujikura and Norwegian DJ/composer Jan Bang (the latter two for cello and electronics).
Yeast Culture have created a series of projected visuals that will be screened as Matthew plays the Britten suite.
This evening's concert is part of an extensive tour by Matthew Barley to celebrate Britten’s centenary and to show that his music really is for everyone.
Tickets are available on the door.
