JunctureMCR are are a recently formed art collective formed of five graduated BA (Hons) Embroidery students.
This is their first exhibition. As a building under restoration, Victoria Baths provides an abundance of pattern, colour and texture to support and complement this work. JunctureMCR are very pleased to be exhibiting contemporary work in this exciting venue, with its exposed, aged interior and restored stain glass and tiles.
The exhibition displays an insight into JunctureMCR’s process and inspiration. Exploring pattern and marks from the city to the body, the artists observations allow them to delve into intricate structure, surface development and ornamentation.
Collectively, the work values the presence of the hand in making and the time implications of this. Focussing on labour intensive processes has led the artists to record exactly how much time the work for this exhibition has taken. From drawing, researching, sampling and making, they have been conscious of the minutes and hours spent on the individual and collaborative projects.
The exhibition is open:
- Sunday 26th October, 11am-4pm (admission £3)
- Mon 27th October to Friday 31st October, 2-5pm (admission free)
- Saturday 1st November, 11am-4pm (admission free)
- Sunday 2nd November, 12noon-4pm (admission £3/£2.50, children free)
