Nature Scavenger Hunt

For 2020 Heritage Open Days, we're doing something a little different reflecting their theme of Hidden Nature. Don your detective hats and your walking boots; we're creating a nature-themed, contactless, family friendly scavenger hunt around parts of Ardwick and the surrounding area.
How do I take part?
This is a self-guided scavenger hunt for a series of QR codes that are hidden in and around Victoria Baths. The entire hunt takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete, depending upon your walking speed and how quick you are to decipher the clues and answer the questions.
The QR codes will be available from 3pm on Friday 11th September right through to the evening of Sunday 20th September. If you would like to join in, all you need is a mobile phone that can scan QR codes.
Where's the First Clue?
To start your hunt, head to Victoria Baths where you'll find the first QR code on the noticeboard at the front of the building; it will give you clues about where to head next! To scan the code, simply open your phone's camera, and hold it up to the printed tag. Each code will also contain a question that is related to nature - if you answer all these you can win a Victoria Baths goody bag!
How do I win the Goody Bag?
Once you have found all of the codes, you can send your answers to the nature questions to us by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or private message us on social media. We'll pull the winner's name out of a hat and announce on social media on 21st September - and we'll notify them by email.
Get involved and share
We actively encourage you to take photos of yourselves searching for the clues to post on social media - just please be careful not to give the hiding places away! Some of the hashtags we'll be using are #HODs #HiddenNature #free #takepart #scavengerhunt #Manchester #Ardwick and feel free to link in with @victoriabaths and @heritageopendays too.
Please be careful
This is a self-guided trail of 1.5 miles in an outdoor urban environment that will require moving between hiding places. Please take care around the roads and come wearing appropriate outdoor clothing. All QR codes are hidden in public, accessible spaces - please do not trespass on private property during your search.
Be Covid safe
Whilst channelling your inner sleuth, if you encounter other detectives then please follow the current government guidelines for social distancing at all times.
Will Victoria Baths be open?
There is a disabled parking bay at the side of the building and on street parking is available in the local area. Unfortunately, we are not currently able to open Victoria Baths or its car park to the public - there will be no access to the building or any of its facilities.
Other free activities for Heritage Open Days
We're also putting together a ZINE - see HERE for more details of how to take part and submit something for our ZINE.
